NEW JERSEY – Riders, at JerseyBike, we feel it is our responsibility to do everything we can to keep our community healthy and safe. The global COVID-19 pandemic is a threat that JerseyBike is taking seriously. We wanted to share some of the steps we are taking to mitigate the risks associated with a shared transportation option and share some steps you can take to keep yourselves safe.

We have increased the strength and frequency of cleaning and sanitization of our warehouse and all of the bikes in our fleet.

In our warehouse, we are taking steps to ensure the welfare of our employees. We are urging all employees to be vigilant about frequent hand washing and are distributing hand sanitizer. We are providing and requiring gloves for our mechanics and rebalancers.

While we are doing everything we can to keep our community safe, we recommend that our riders take precautionary measures to minimize their exposure to COVID-19. While we are sanitizing the bikes at the beginning, during, and at the end of every shift, we encourage riders to wipe down our bikes before and after use. The North American Bike Share Association (NABSA) also shared a helpful piece of information to keep in mind: “According to the World Health Organization, factors like temperature, UV exposure, and humidity can affect the lifespan of COVID-19 outside of the body. Bikes, scooters, and other micromobility options are unlikely to harbor the virus for extended periods of time.” Riders should still remain vigilant about washing their hands before and after using a bike. We are also encouraging our riders to consider wearing gloves as a precautionary measure.

JerseyBike remains committed to providing our community with a clean and safe transportation option. We are closely monitoring the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and federal/local health agencies for developments and will continue to update our policies and operations accordingly.

To learn more about COVID-19 and other precautions you can take, please refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization.

Ride smart, ride safe!
